A code-in-box copy is a full download, and Rockstar has not said how big. Clear space now, or add a 2 TB drive with a heatsink.

Preload questions

When does GTA 6 preload start?
November 12, 2026, one week before launch. Rockstar Support says preload opens at midnight local time, and Take-Two’s pre-order announcement confirms digital versions preload from November 12 and boxed copies (a download code) reach retailers the same day.
Does the physical copy have a disc?
No. The box holds a download code. That is why boxed copies are released on Nov 12, 2026 rather than launch day: you redeem the code and preload like a digital buyer.
How do I redeem the code?
PS5: PlayStation Store, then Redeem Code, on a PlayStation account in the same region as the box. Xbox: press the Xbox button, open Store, then Redeem, on the account that should own the game. Redeem it on the account you will actually play on; a code is single-use.
How big is the download?
Rockstar has not published the install size. Plan for a large one: clear space before November 12 so the preload does not stall, and if your console is nearly full, an SSD upgrade is the fix that also survives launch-week patches.
What time does GTA 6 unlock?
