The game has also held the #1 spot on the PlayStation Store's pre-order charts since orders opened on June 25.
The gap is striking but not shocking. Sony has leaned hard into GTA 6 marketing — including a week-long Vice City takeover of the PlayStation app — and the PS5's larger install base naturally tilts the numbers. Affiliate data also only captures a slice of total sales, so treat the exact ratio as directional rather than gospel.
Why it matters: if the split holds anywhere near 8:1 through launch, GTA 6 becomes the strongest system-seller argument PlayStation has ever had going into a holiday season — and retailers will stock accordingly. Watch for bundle announcements.
