Rockstar has spent the entire GTA 6 marketing cycle talking about one thing: Jason, Lucia, and the single-player story set across Vice City and the wider state of Leonida. What it has not done is announce a successor to GTA Online. With launch under two months out, there is still no confirmed release date for a GTA 6 multiplayer mode, and nothing in Rockstar's messaging suggests one is coming on day one.
The tell is that the current GTA Online is not going anywhere. Rockstar is expected to keep shipping updates to the GTA 5-era online game after November 19, which would be a strange thing to do if its replacement were ready to ship alongside the new title. Rockstar has also split these launches before: GTA Online followed GTA 5 by about two weeks in 2013, and Red Dead Online entered beta roughly a month after Red Dead Redemption 2. The gap this time could be far longer, and a 2027 window is a reasonable read of where things stand, but it remains an estimate, not a date Rockstar has given.
Why it matters: if you are pre-ordering GTA 6 expecting to grind an online economy with friends in November, set that expectation aside. What is confirmed for launch day is the story campaign. Separately, do not assume your existing GTA Online progress, money or vehicle collection carries into whatever comes next. Rockstar has announced no transfer system, and a clean start is just as likely.
